I wasn't able to get out Friday night to see Heks Orkest rock the South of the James at the Manchester Bike Lot, but I did hang out in our sun room listening to two songs by the Richmond super-group available online. Groovy.
I find myself particularly enamored by Keeley Davis' recent comment about the new band: "So this is the new project involving old guys. Don't think we won't still sweat and tear a hole in your ear drum. It's on like Donkey Kong."
Heks Orkest is Davis (formerly of Engine Down and Denali), former Engine Down/Denali bassist Jonathan Fuller, former Denali guitarist Cam DiNunzio, drummer Ed Trask (formerly of too many great bands) and vocalist Dave Grant (ex-Action Patrol). Really, you can't get more rock on one stage than that.
And while you're hanging out on the Internet, go check out Johnny Hugel's photos of the new skating bowl in Manchester and the Heks Orkest show.
