I Remain a Weak-Kneed Pop Simpleton

There have been a few times in my life when I've pretended to be something other than halfway literate music fan with a soft spot for a well-constructed pop song.

The North Carolina jangle-pop band The Connells are a great example of the sort of band whose songs have remained stuck in my head for decades.

It's almost depressing to learn that they're playing a reunion show at Cats Cradle in Chapel Hill on Friday, June 19, for a mere $15. That would be a Father's Day weekend show worth seeing.
