The stores might be gone, but the name's still around. Ukrop's Homestyle Foods reflects an attempt by Bobby Ukrop and associates to keep the flavor going – and apparently to slog potato salad all around the country.
The Retail Merchants Association's First Friday Forum in June is going to let the company that replaced Ukrop's in the grocery business and the founder of the new Ukrop's Homestyle Foods tell the story of the new company's reinvention as a food producer and distributor.
It all happens from 7:45 until 9:15 a.m. on Friday, June 4, at The Westin Richmond at 6631 West Broad Street. Tickets are $30 for the general business/retail public; $25 for RMA members.
