If you've been hiding under a rock all winter, you may not realize that Richmond's Northside is a short leash-length away from getting its own dog park. The park will be located on the grounds of the Pine Camp Culture Arts and Community Center on Old Brook Road, and has its own Ning site. Friends of Northside Dog Park announced in December that the ball was rolling, and in February they became an official "best friend" (dog talk for partner) of the Richmond Recreation and Parks Foundation. The city already maintains two official dog parks (one at Byrd Park and one in Chimborazo Park) and has a goal of establishing four in Richmond.
There are several ways you can help turn the Northside Dog Park into a reality:
- Follow them on Twitter, submit your hound-friendly photos to its Facebook page, or join the Ning community.
- Complete the brief volunteer survey to help the steering committee focus its energies.
- Check out the photos and videos of the planned site, and track its progress.
- Help the Northside Dog Park team reach its $6,000 fundraising goal.
