Every year, Venture Richmond brings together a showcase of downtown developers to talk about the best and brightest projects happening in and around downtown Richmond. At the tip of the economic peak in 2007, the presentations were thick with condos and major initiatives -- like a new federal courthouse -- but also boasted great projects like the Virginia Capital Trail and the still-splendid Tarrant's Restaurant. When the bottom was falling out of the universe last December, it was interesting that optimism still ruled the roost; I noted how astonished I was by the amount of development activity still happening downtown.
The 2009 event -- slated for December 16 -- should be a fascinating glimpse into what the coming year holds for fans of Richmond's downtown.
"Seeing is Believing Downtown's Transformation" will bring 20 developers together to chat up more than 40 downtown projects recently completed or in development. The big back-slapping happens on Wednesday, December 16, and comes in two flavors -- a morning session from 7:30-9:00 a.m. and an evening gig from 5:30 until 7:00 p.m. (They'd better make sure the coffee is ready this time!) Both events take place at the Carpenter Theater at 6th and Grace streets. The event is free, but registration is required.
