The most interesting thing about this year's Top 40 Under 40 list -- Style Weekly's usually on-point take on 40 people in Richmond who are young, engaged and changing things up -- is how damn young everyone is. I saw that from the aged vantage point of a 2007 winner, which essentially means I'm somewhere south of 42.
The other thing? That the publication -- once again -- has done a good job of traveling the beaten path, wandering off into the weeds and pulling out a few surprises. I'll wait until the official word hits the streets -- on the Internet later today, and on newsstands tomorrow -- to pontificate to any real degree. I'm more interested in how Style sees each of these individuals and their contributions to the Richmond region than I am in making up my own stories about them. But having said that, a few comments:
CONGRATULATIONS TO PEOPLE I KNOW: Some I know well. Others I've met once or twice. But they're all energetic and engaged with what they do. So, congratulations to Shawn Boyer, Casey Emery, Chris Gatewood, Kim Gray, John Holland (not Jonah, but her husband John), Amy Howard, Bizhan Khodabandeh, Patience Salgado, Sheila Sheppard, Mary Dunne Stewart and Jonathan Zur.
You'll have to wait to find out who the other 29 recipients are, but kudos to Style for another great list.
