Social Media, or whatever it's calling itself this week, has been a long-overdue kick in the pants for Richmond's Collaborative Arts Group, which is returning the love next week at its monthly get together. The Collaborative Arts Group, which is open to anyone with a yen for art of any shape or composition, will be holding court with four creatives who have figured out how to harness to mighty power of the Internet:
Charles Collie of BoldStroke Consulting has spent the last 15 years helping organizations re-shape themselves to create a positive future. Asking the right questions to get at the heart of an organization’s growth issues, Charles helps organizations live their purpose by creating a brand focused culture that is ingrained in every aspect of its operations. Over the last couple of years, helping organizations use social media to communicate and create community around their brand has become one of his specialties.
Tiffany Glass Ferreira does not have a background in social media, marketing or computers. However, as an artist she quickly learned that all three were vital to the success of her creative projects. She currently coordinates social media projects for the Virginia Commission for the Arts, Virginia Alliance of Local Arts Agencies, The Anhinga Studio Writers Conference and the Real Small Art League.
Brian Korte began Brickworkz LLC to create custom art using a unique medium- LEGO bricks. Brian uses Brickworkz not just as a creative outlet, but as a way to reach the community and share his story (and artwork) with children in schools, teaching children about the importance of creativity. Brian uses social media (LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook) to promote and grow the reach of his business, without using advertising dollars. The social sites keep him current on upcoming events to attend and promote the Brickworkz brand to an international group of followers.
Rusty Speidel is a long-time technology and media professional with over 20 years conceiving, creating, and managing user experiences. He is currently the VP of Social Media and User Experience for Rowdy.com, a NASCAR-oriented social network, where he is responsible for defining and implementing Rowdy’s social media strategy, motivating Rowdy’s online community, and managing the creative and technology teams that keep Rowdy.com running smoothly.
The free discussion (with light refreshments and time for socializing) will be held next Thursday, September 10, at Baskervill's Shockoe Bottom offices (in that tin shed between Cary and Canal, behind LaDiff). That's 101 South 15th Street for you Google Map junkies. The show runs from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
This is the 1,237th in a series of social media conversations being held in Richmond this year.
