It's a bit of a chicken and egg argument, whether newspapers are declining because of the Internet.
I'm of the mind that weblogs -- those pesky, populist websites rife with personal rants, educated stabs in the dark and other stranger curiosities -- have actually helped to slow the decline of the news industry, and strengthen the brand of some news outlets. My experience suggests that no one stopped reading the Richmond Times-Dispatch because of my weblog, but that a whole lot of people have read more RTD content as a result of my posts than would have without them.
So, in honor of National Buy a Newspaper Day tomorrow, I encourage you to read a weblog.
