The loquacious Aytch Cornhill of the Historic Varina weblog and the unstoppable Sheila Sheppard at Envision Richmond/Envision Henrico both have sent out pleas for folks interested in the next 15 years of development in Henrico County to show up this Thursday at a planning meeting.
I'll let Aytch take it away:
Obviously, the first thing any curious resident of Henrico County would want to do is check out the proposed 2026 Comprehensive Plan itself. Henrico has recently posted details on the plan on the county's website.
Similar to the Downtown Master Plan for the City of Richmond, the Comprehensive Plan for the County of Henrico looks at land use, transportation and open space. In contrast to the city's somewhat limited downtown initiative, the Henrico plan is broad in scope -- extending across the entire county. For your edification, here are links to each section of the draft documents under consideration:
There is too little media coverage and local public awareness of Henrico County's current Comprehensive Plan.
There is very little written news available to let Henrico County residents understand the possible impacts of this plan upon their future.
It appears that the current draft of the Henrico County Comprehensive Plan shows a focus on the urbanization of Henrico County.
THURSDAY JANUARY 22nd, at 6PM in the Board Room of the County Administration Building in the Government Center at Parham and Hungary Springs Roads.
It is time for Henrico residents to get involved. If we do not all take measures to protect our environmental, historic and cultural assets, we will only be able to blame ourselves. Please help encourage Henrico residents take part in shaping the future of the county. This Comprehensive Plan will impact the future of our entire region.
