RVA Magazine points us toward a new exhibition by artist Ed Trask that opens at j fergeson gallery in Farmville on February 7, a short and scenic drive down Route 360 from Richmond.
Join us for an opening reception Saturday, February 7, 5:00-8:00 pm and
participate in a community paint-by-number installation designed by the
artist...
...Trask’s latest work reflect his fascination with the forgotten architecture -- bowing power lines, faded signs, cracked streets and train tracks edging new development. But he avoids the melancholy of the past -- his work hums with the unbridled, kinetic inspiration of graffiti art and growing things -- and of punk, the other passion that has kept him busy and moving these past decades.
And so he’s come full-circle. The aging buildings that once wore his paintings have crawled inside them, guaranteed never to become glassy condos or cupcake boutiques.

I'm sorry. Did you miss the first sentence about participating in a "community paint-by-number installation designed by the artist?" Because that has got to be so worth the drive.
